Phuket Day 1

Ok this is what has been going on for the last 3 days since we touchdown in Phuket. I will try to be as descriptive.

Day 1, 29 March 2008:

Lovely weather in Phuket. Unlike Singapore which have been raining quite a lot, Phuket is freaking hot and humid. The arrival hall received lesser buzz than changi airport which makes me think probably we only have 1 airport but Thailand has several in different states. The immigration counter was a breeze but after that finding the van which transit us to Patong Beach was a panic and it turns out they covered our name.

We boarded the van the it took 1 hour to reach our resort. Along the journey I felt a familiar sight and it is like going to Malaysia for a holiday in a car. You could see big billboards and kampungs everywhere. Shophouses and building that replicate what Malaysia has. The only difference is I see Thai language everywhere.

We finally arrived at our accomodation, Coconut Villiage Resort. Sounds wonderful? Yeap quite good to my expectation. It is a 3 star resort and our room is big furnished with the normal stuff, the bathroom has a bathtub and also there are pictures hanging on the wall which has elephants and Thai dancers which is scary. I thank my MIL in silence that she ask me to bring the Yasin and put it on the dressing table.

After settlling down, we headed for the Phuket Town which sells various merchandice from t-shirts to shoes to pirated CDs to imitation branded bags. It is similiar to Petaling Street in KL but I find it less confusing. We started shopping! Haha! My hubby was a real bargainer. Imagine he bought an Ocean Pack 15 oz from 1200 baht and bargained it untill it became half! Other stuff we bought, t-shirts, 3 quarter pants, sandals, shoes and do know what else. (When we check in our luggage it was 22.6kg and before was 17kg..)

So day 1 was shop, shop, shop and shop. Apparently I found out that hubby was a great shopper than I was as he already knows what to buy. He was telling me that he should have just bought 1 set of clothes and buy the rest in Phuket.

We also book a trip to Phi Phi Island and Khai Island on my birthday which actually cost 2800 baht but it was discounted and we paid 1400 baht per person which is about SGD 60. We thought it was cheap for a day tour.

Most Thai people speaks little English and sometimes it is quite difficult to describe to them what we want. As for the bargaining they used calculators so that we do not misunderstood how the party wants to pay for the price of the item.
